Best Teams To Manage On Football Manager 21

5. Leeds United

Narrowly missing out on my previous list is Premier League new boys Leeds United. 16 years after their relegation to the second tier, the Whites are back and are looking to impress. Bielsa, already hailed as a god in Yorkshire, will be a tough act to follow but Leeds have a solid squad, a great stadium and all the attributes of a top team in the making. Survival will be a relatively easy start but building this side to former glories is the real challenge as this sleeping giant edges back towards the European elite.

4. Notts County

Famous for being the oldest football club in the world, it has been a torrid couple of years for Notts County. Following their relegation to the National League for the first time in their impressive 158 year history. At the first time of asking, the Magpies were a game away from their return to League 2 but a narrow loss to Harrogate meant their status in the fifth tier was maintained. For a team at this level, Notts County is brimming with talent and ensuring promotion as soon as possible is a must. Beyond that, this is a club steeped in history and players who enjoy a conference to Premier League journey should absolutely consider this save.

3. Genoa

They may not be the oldest club in the world, but they are the oldest surviving club in Italy. Following a dramatic final day last season, Genoa secured their Serie A survival following a 3-0 victory against Hellas Verona. Now, the real work begins about trying to take a mediocre Genoa side back to the top of Serie A; a position they have not held since 1924. That said, they are an incredibly well-respected side in Italy and seeing them fall back into Serie B would be a massive shame. It’s a challenge trying to take them to topple the Milan sides and Juventus but definitely a rewarding one.

2. Le Havre

A beautiful stadium, a remarkable youth academy and rich history are the definitive staples of Le Havre AC. Every FM player knows them by now and FM21 could be the time to restore their Ligue 1 status after 11 years. The side, most famous for producing the likes of Paul Pogba, Dmitri Payet and Riyad Mahrez, finished in a respectable 6th position in Ligue 2. Now it’s time to utilise one of the best academies in the game to create a golden generation for this iconic FM club.

  1. Sivasspor

Now I will admit, this one may come as a surprise but hear me out. Sivasspor presents an exciting opportunity to manage in a country many FM players forget about. The Turkish Süper Lig is one of the most competitive in the world with a three-way battle for the title for the past 10 years until Instanbul Başakşehir shocked the league winning it for the first time in their history last season. Also, for the first time in their history, Sivasspor will compete in a European group stage for the 2020/21 Europa League. Spurred by familiar names Arouna Kone and Max Gradel, this is an excellent opportunity to put Turkish football on the European map by taking them to the next level. Only five Turkish teams have ever reached the Champions League group stage and Sivasspor is primed to become the sixth. It will be a challenge but this is an excellent save for those who want to try a different league and create a new European power.
