Recently, we published an article about the best laptop for FM21. The laptops I recommended, I think, will run most of the higher end abilities of Football Manager quite comfortably. So, you’ve got your PC, you’ve got the game (which is available for pre-order at £29.99 through our discount link by the way), now how do you make it run as best as it can? Here are some of my tips to help you run FM21 to its full potential.
How To Make Football Manager 2021 Load Faster
One of the biggest reasons your game could be slowing down is the number of the leagues you have as ‘playable’. The more players the game actively has to render, the more it will slow down. If you are interested in seeing other leagues, knowing you will probably never actually manage in them, change them to ‘View-Only’ upon setup to keep the game running smoothly.
Change your graphics quality
This one is rather basic but it may worth considering. In preferences, one of the first things you will notice is the ‘3D Graphics Quality’ which can be changed via a toggle setting. My advice would always be, where possible, should your PC have under 3 stars, try and play the matches in 2D Classic. 3D replays shouldn’t be a problem, as they have already been rendered, but try to keep live highlights in 2D if you can.
Change rendering quality
This is a big one if you are desperate to play in 3D. Lowering the rendering quality will mean less fancy lighting effects and crowds, but it will massively improve frame rates and player movement on the pitch. It is also worth mentioning this will have no effect if you play in 2D. To find this, simply search ‘rendering’ in the preferences page on the main menu.
Change your detail level
Finally, this is a huge one. If you’re tired of your social feed / emails being full of competitions you don’t care about, this menu enables you to change how much information there is on every competition in the game. You can change it on a competition-by-competition basis or, in the top right of the screen, you can change the detail level for all club or international competitions with a simple click; increasing your load speeds.
So that’s all for now. If you have any questions or anything other suggestions, please feel free to message me or the page on Instagram.
